Training report: Guard sweep and X Guards

This week we taught guard sweep for the beginners and continued on our trilogy of shin to shin, single X and X guard for the advanced students. I think they are great guards for nogi and after 3 weeks of drilling it, I can see that students are starting to grasp the concepts. For the next 2 weeks, Serge will be fishing at the batch and the advanced students will get to drill their favourite moves unless Igor wants to takes the beginners class and Stu can then teach deep half guard. Otherwise, the next 2 weeks for the beginners is top half guard and bottom half guard. The couple of new guys that tried out on the first and second week have not been back so I guess there is still vacancies if you want to train at our club. See you on the mats.

Auckland Anniversary Day

From Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auckland_Anniversary_Day Auckland Anniversary Day  is a  public holiday  observed in the northern half of the  North Island  of  New Zealand , being the area's  provincial anniversary day . It is observed throughout the historic  Auckland Province , even though the  provinces of New Zealand  were abolished in 1876. The modern area of observation includes all of  Auckland ,  Northland  (where it is known instead as Northland Day [ citation needed ] ),  Waikato ,  Bay of Plenty  and  Gisborne Regions , as well as some parts of the  Manawatu-Wanganui  and  Hawke's Bay Regions  north of the  39th parallel .  The holiday usually falls on the Monday closest to 29 January, the anniversary of the arrival of  William Hobson , later the first Governor of New Zealand, in the  Bay of Islands  in 1840. Training report: Week 2

This week we taught guard submissions for fundamental and shin to shin guard for blue belts. Our intermediate guard system is focused on nogi guard due to the nogi national. We will focus on guard that requires more sleeve grips once the nogi season is over. Tuesday class is very popular compare to Thursday nogi class. I am still confused if people prefers training on Tuesday because it is GI or it is just that Tuesday is just a more suitable day to train compare to Thursday. It seems that we have 3 new students and soon we will be looking at putting a waiting list to ensure a good ratio of students/instructors but of course to ensure that the mats are not too crowded. Also, I am very glad that Edward is back training for us after 3 years. He was one of the original students from our first location in Onehunga. So if you have been thinking to try out for a free class, do it now and avoid the disappointment of going in the waiting list. Please bare in mind that we always

First week at training. Lot of people turned up on Tuesday and less on Thursday. Not sure if people prefer Tuesday because it is gi training compare to Thursday that is no gi training. So first in, first served. Do not wait for too long to avoid disappointment. Of course we are always open for our returning students. Our fees are simple. $20 per week. no contract but we require you to set up an automatic payment. We will be training nogi on Thursdays until the NZ grappler National Nogi Competition in Saturday 01 April 2017. What do you need to Nogi training? Shorts with no pockets and metal clips Rash guard. T shirts are an option but rash guard is way better What do you need for Gi training? A BJJ gi or Judo gi. a rash guard a preferable but not compulsary. Where can
