An evening at the Yakitori House

akitori (Japanese焼き鳥) is a Japanese type of skewered chicken. Its preparation involves skewering the meat with kushi (), a type of skewer typically made of steel, bamboo, or similar materials. Afterwards, they are grilled over a charcoal fire. During or after cooking, the meat is typically seasoned with tare sauce or salt.

Last Saturday, we took our coaches and their better half (wife or partner) for a dinner.
The goal was to thank the coaches but mostly their spouses to let them train at night.

The location was the Yakitori House.
Their manager is Kan.
He is Judo black belt who trains at the Auckland University Judo Club.
We have been friends for years and we always receive us a warm welcome and special attention from him.

He also set up a menu that included:
Edamane
Salmon Sashimi
Beef
Deep fried Chicken (kara-age chicken)
Chicken and cheese yakitori
Chichen tender thigh met yakitori
Big chunky salmon yakitori
A vegetable sets of yakitori for the vegeterian.
Fried dumpling
Deep freight camenbert
Fried Squid tentacles
Prawn tempura set
Deep friend Moro bar named Moro Dog

We washed down all the food with Orion beer, sake and Japanese Sochu.

You can check their information on the below link

The first picture is the team posing with Kan.

I did not take pictures of the food we consumed but I decided to post some pictures from their facebook page just to give an idea of how nice is the food.

We are thinking to take all the team for a mid winter party.

Linjian Chan Graduation

Dear members of the Auckland BJJ community, Today, we gather to celebrate the remarkable achievements of one of our own, Linjian Chen, who has earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Linjian's journey has been unique and inspiring, starting in his 50s and culminating with this incredible achievement. As we honor Linjian's dedication, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to his training, I am reminded of a quote by Bruce Lee, who said, "Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do." Linjian embodies this spirit of action and determination, always pushing himself to be better and never giving up on his goals. Another great quote that comes to mind is by Ralph Waldo Emerson, who said, "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." Linjian's journey to this point has been long and challenging, but he has always shown that he has what it takes to succeed. His strength, d...

Antonio Claudio Collares “Tonicão” Jiu Jitsu

I try to not copy other people's articles.  However I made an exception on this one because it is near impossible finding out interview of the master translated in English. Tonicao means big Toni (just in case you wondered). Tonicao gave the black belt to Douglas Santos. Therefore Tonicao is part of our lineage. I got the info from http://klbjj.blogspot.co.nz/2008/06/interview-with-tonicao.html Interview with Tonicao I translated from Portuguese to English and made some corrections. INTERVIEW WITH TONICÃO The first developer of Jiu - Jitsu in Santa Catarina, this black belt (almost red and black) of 54 years well lived, 30 of them devoted to the Jiu - Jitsu , is definitely a person with a lot of histories . An extremely "good people", that captivates people in 10 minutes of conversation, no exception to the questions and plays with death. Enjoy the result of this pleasant conversation with the "Master Tonicão " which lasted an...
